An example is (The Relocation Professionals, Inc.) has been in business since 2002 and has been an A+ BBB (San Diego, California) registered company since 2004. It's very simple to check the BBB to make sure a company is legit. Go to www.BBB.org and simply type in the company’s name.
Another way to check how long a company has been operating is check the WHOIS of the domain. Simply go to www.DomainWhitePages.com and type in the domain. www.eRelocationProfessionals.com was registered on 28-jul-2002 and isn't set to expire until 28-jul-2017. This means we have been in business for nearly 8 years and expect to be in business at least until 2017. Also, make sure to check their physical address. Some suspicious companies hide behind a private address. Be very cautious of this. It also helps to verify this is an "American Company".
There have been a few people in the last year creating marketing websites in Canada around the Toronto area. Be very careful of these websites. They do NOT have to adhere to NAR and RESPA regulations. You are urged to stay away from companies such as this.
Do they allow you to call them directly? Are they a Real business address, or in moms attic? A true legit company has a valid physical address, preferably in a business complex. (Example: 511 Encinitas Blvd Suite 108 - Encinitas, CA 92024). If you're dealing with a P.O Box, again... be careful. A good way to see the validity of an address is to use Google. Example type in the company name along with their city/state and see what comes up. Example type in "relocation professionals Encinitas, CA" and see what comes up. Don't worry; we aren't operating in our moms’ attic! You must be verified with Google Business Services to be listed in their business section!
